Volunteer

Every story needs great characters!   The Monroe Public Library is currently expanding its use of volunteers to enhance our services.  Volunteers must go through an application and interview process, conducted by the library’s volunteer coordinator.

Current Opportunities

Homebound Selection & Delivery
Select, deliver, and pick up books and other library materials for homebound patrons as needed.

Qualifications:  Able to select items based upon patron requests.  Able to bend, stoop, reach, stretch, lift and carry.   Must have a valid Wisconsin driver’s license, insurance and a vehicle.

Time Commitment:  Two hours once a month.   More hours may be available, but not required, as more patrons take advantage of the service.

Local History Blogger
Look through old newspapers and local history resources to identify interesting local stories.  Make these available to the public through a local history blog, either by blogging directly or providing library staff with a word processing document containing the text.

Qualifications:   Able to type, and use microfilm equipment.  Basic familiarity with local history resources or willingness to learn about the resources.

Time Commitment:  1-2 hours per week.
