Literacy Council of Green County

The Literacy Council of Green County functions out of a small space on the library’s second floor, tucked near the Program Room at the front of the building.  This area holds a small table with six chairs.  Out of this small space, the Literacy Council serves Tutor and Learner pairs who meet on a regular basis, and hosts regular Conversation Circles with up to a dozen attendees.  And they’re always growing!

While these pairs often meet in library study rooms, the small conference room, and at various tables in the library, a larger space for the Literacy Council would give them a true space of their own and help them fully live their mission.

IMPACT
  • The Literacy Council is a necessary, growing service for our city.  Having the Literacy Council in our building helps low-literacy adults, recent immigrants, and non-English speakers feel more comfortable at the library and in the greater community.
