About Our Library

Whether you are a life-long resident or new to Monroe, the Monroe Public Library is here to meet your informational and recreational needs. Our facility, located on the Historic Square in Downtown Monroe, makes us a destination for residents and tourists alike.

Once you step inside the library, you will find a dedicated and enthusiastic staff waiting to guide you through collections, services, and maybe even tell you the "must see" places in Monroe and Green County. We want your experience at the Monroe Public Library to be a great one.

We are lucky to have a great relationship with our partners — the Friends of the Monroe Public Library, the Green County Genealogical Society, and the Literacy Council of Green County, all of which are located in the Library.

As a member of the South Central Library System you have access to library collections from sixty-four different libraries and branches. I encourage everyone from age 3 to 100 to get a library card and take full advantage of all we have to offer right here in historic Monroe.

Hope to see you in the library!
