Construction on the library has begun! Follow the project here.
Greetings, donors! We’re very excited to finally update you on the library renovation. After delays caused by COVID, funding, the sudden death of the chief engineer and other factors, we’re able to move forward at last.
Construction document bids were due on September 21. The Library Board of Trustees will soon announce details about the construction project. A current estimate for the build would be around 6 months, November through April 2024. On the behalf of the entire community, we thank you for your generous support of this vital project. Let's Do Something Extraordinary For MonroeThere is something special about every town—it’s a sense of community. It is why we put down roots, why we’re proud of our hometown, and why we work together to make it better. We live in a great community—a wonderful place to live and work. But the library building does not meet these standards.
The renovations we need are all designed to make the library an extraordinary place—more welcoming and able to serve people in new ways that bring us all together. The Library Board of Trustees and Staff heard what the community wants, then had conceptual plans developed to reflect the community’s perspective. Monroe wants a building that will enhance downtown and provide opportunities for people of all ages, encouraging people to move here and to stay here.
