Using Libby

How to download library ebooks, digital audiobooks, and magazines

Get the App OR go online
  • Libby is free to download from your app store, and is available for Android, iOS, Windows, and Kindle Fire. 
  • On a computer or device without the app, go online to libbyapp.com.
Find Your Library
  • Monroe Public Library is part of the Wisconsin Public Library Consortium. Typing the zip code (53566) is the quickest way to bring up this option.
Add a Card
  • From the menu, select "South Central - LINKcat Libraries" and enter your card number without spaces.
Browse the Library
  • The building icon displays the main page of Wisconsin’s Digital Library, which gives you lists of items to browse.
  • Tap the title of any list to browse, and choose “Preferences” to refine what you’re looking for.
Search for Books
  • You can also search by title or author, using the magnifying glass icon.
Choose a Book
  • When you find a book you'd like, click "Borrow" to check it out.
  • If the book is already out on loan, you can touch "Place a hold," then enter your email address. Just like with regular books, you may have to wait for new and popular items.
Download
  • When you tap "Borrow," Libby will show a screen with the name of the book and your card.
  • Click on "for 7 days" to choose a different checkout period, then touch the "Borrow!" button.
  • You can have up to 10 books checked out, and up to 10 on hold.
On the Shelf
  • Click the book stack icon to see your borrowed items.
  • Tap on a book’s cover to read or listen!
  • You can also manage your holds.
No fines
  • There are no overdue fines for digital materials.
  • You can return items whenever you're ready (choose “Manage Loan”), or Libby will automatically delete them at the end of the loan period.
​History
  • Click on the clock icon to view your loan and hold history timeline.

  • Tap the main menu icon, then the “Get Some Help" button.
  • Visit help.libbyapp.com.

Como descargar libros, audiolibros y revistas digitales

Obtener la aplicación o visitar el sitio
  • Libby es una app gratuita disponible en cualquier tienda de aplicaciones. Se puede descargar por Android, iOS, Windows y Kindle Fire.

Encontrar la biblioteca
  • La biblioteca pública de Monroe es parte del consorcio: Wisconsin Public Library Consortium. Puede hallar esta opción ingresando el código postal (53566). 
Agregar la tarjeta
  • En el menú, seleccione “South Central - LINKcat Libraries” e ingrese el número de tarjeta sin espacios.
Explorar la biblioteca
  • El icono del edificio representa la página de inicio de la biblioteca digital.
  • Esta página muestra listas de artículos para navegar. Haga clic en el título de alguna lista para ver más.
  • Seleccione “Preferencias” para refinar lo que quiera buscar.
Buscar libros
  • Puede buscar por título o autor con el icono de la lupa.
Elegir un libro
  • Cuando busque un libro que quiera pedir prestado, haga clic “Pedir prestado.”
  • Si el libro todavía está en préstamo, haga clic en “Poner título en espera” y entra el correo electrónico. Es posible que tenga que esperar artículos nuevos y populares.
Pedir prestado & Descargar
  • La aplicación muestra un icono del libro y su tarjeta.
  • Haga clic en “por 7 días” para elegir un periodo de préstamo diferente. Finalmente, haga clic en “¡Pedir prestado!”
  • Puede tener 10 artículos en préstamo y 10 artículos en espera.
Estantería
  • Haga clic en el icono de la pila de libros para ver los artículos en préstamo.
  • Seleccione la portada de un libro para leer o escuchar.
  • También puede administrar los artículos en espera.
Multas
  • No hay multas en artículos digitales.
  • Puede devolver libros cuando lo desee (seleccione “Administrar préstamo” y “devolver anticipadamente”) o la aplicación los eliminará al final del periodo de préstamo.
Línea del tiempo
  • Seleccione el icono del reloj para ver el historial del préstamo y los artículos en espera.
Ayuda y soporte
  • En el menú, seleccione “Obtener ayuda.”
  • Visite la biblioteca para obtener más ayuda.
